Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: First session Seiko worked on her place skill. Today we worked outside. This sessions focus was getting her to settle outside as she easily becomes over threshold. She was very uninterested in treats and looking all around at people walking past or the sprinkler near by. She did happily take pats as her reward. Anytime she chose to sit or lay down on the bed we said yes and rewarded her. By the end of the session she did begin to take treats and looked more settled outside. It’s important to get her settled in the environment before adding additional distractions to set her up for success. Focus: Conditioning C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Seikos second session we worked on her drops. Seiko really struggled with this today even working in the classroom. She struggled going into position from a verbal/hand signal and required a treat lure at times. She did begin to progress as the session went on requiring less of a lure but was still very hit or miss. When in the skill her duration is good but she really struggles to go into the position, this is going to be a big focus at home to work on as this skill is important to redirect her unwanted behaviours. Focus: Repetition C
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Seikos final session we worked on her loose lead. We worked outside on the pavement to start with. She was very distracted initially but did begin to settle as the session progressed, she lacks engagement but did begin to walk by the trainers side and following direction change. We finished up inside the kennels to help work on her dog distractions as she could hear them but not directly see them, she was quicker to settle but still needs more work. Focus: Distraction C+
