Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For his first session today the trainer worked Kombi around Beani outside on the grass working on his emergency drops and loose lead walking. He did really well today following the trainer very closely and constantly checking in. The loose lead aspect was great, he kept great distance and constant engagement, however his drops do need a little work. He understand the verbal and hand gesture and is able to get into the drop really easily (even with Beani distractions!) however he needs to work on his duration, as soon as the trainer markers the skills he springs back up expecting to be rewarded here when we want him to hold the position. To help with this the trainer would hold the treat just a little longer in front of Kombi getting him to sit nice and still before slowly moving the treats upwards, he also wasn’t rewarded in position but rather the trainer released him and rewarded him out of position, this is helping teach him to wait for the release command before releasing his skill. Focus: Manners B+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For his second session today the trainer worked on something fun and got Kombi work on his wave and his roll over! Since he is now waving with the verbal command the trainer wanted to make sure they were always improving the skill by adding new criteria he must reach before being rewarded. For today that meant doing more than 2 waves in a row, which of course he caught on to pretty quickly! This was repeated today to really solidify that when we ask for a wave we want it repeated until told otherwise. He did start loosing a bit of concentration close to the end so the trainer made sure to gain it again for his last session later by doing a little bit of a skill he knows well which was roll over, he is rolling over and back again with nothing but the verbal command being given which is great! Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Exposure Comment: For his last session today the trainer wanted to include Kombi in the weekly activity of art week which was making a painting! Usually this is done with their paws however he trainer Didn’t want to risk this with his paws irritated today as mentioned by you so they did licky painting. He loved this today, he really jumped at the idea of making art with peanut butter and was having the best time ever This isn’t just a fun activity it also exposes him to new experiences and textures like licking the plastic! Also did some more wave to finish off day and did amazing doing 4 in a row Focus: Desensitisation X
