Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Henry’s first session we worked on his drop. Today we worked on adding different distractions and working in different environments. When working outside he was a bit distracted by all the smells to start with. Henry can be slow to drop but goes into the position when asked. When inside we worked on distractions he may not have been around much, sticking with our festive fidos theme the trainer used hula hoops and party poppers as additional distractions. Neither of these bothered Henry and he held his drop like a champ! Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Second session Henry headed over to the pony oval to work on some loose lead with spins and middles to help with his engagement. He was on and off distracted in this environment today, there was an event over the weekend which means there was lots of new horse smells on the oval. Even with these distractions Henry still did his skills well but needed a lure at times for some extra guidance. Keep working on his loose lead and engagement in new environments to build on his engagement and leash manners. Focus: Obedience C+
Skill learnt: Desensitisation Comment: Henry’s final session we worked on lawn mower conditioning. Today we got out our ride on lawn mower and had one trainer riding around on it, starting further away and gradually decreasing distance and increasing the speed of the mower. While this happened we worked on rewarding Henry for looking, walking around, middles, spins, drops all sorts to make it lots of fun and positive. He even did paws up on the mower! Such a brave boy! He did have some hesitations but overall did so well! Focus: Desensitisation X
