Skill | Comment | We focused on | Grade |
---|---|---|---|
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) | Comment: First session Boat worked on his loose lead and drops over at the pony oval. The change in environment was a big of a challenge to start with but he did quickly settle and start engaging well. We added some spins whilst walking to continue building his engagement, he can do this with a verbal and small hand signal. His drops were also really good but he was a bit cheeky and broke a few times but overall did well. Keep pushing his skills in various environments to further his skills. | Focus: Distraction | B |
Skill learnt: Recall | Comment: Boats second session he was back at the Pony Oval, this time working on his recall. His biggest distractions was all the smells and the birds. He worked on a long line and recalled most times he was called, we always use his name first to get his attention before saying the word come, if he is still distraction we use sounds to get his focus. Keep working on these at home. | Focus: Distraction | B |
Skill learnt: Trick Training | Comment: Final session Boat worked on his bang trick. He is showing good progress in this! We are working on getting him to do the trick from a stand position and he shows good understanding of the verbal cue “bang” with the hand gun and will slowly go down and onto his side. We have even started adding in a plastic toy gun as a prop which he does think is a chew toy. Keep working on this at home and building his duration in the “dead” position before releasing him. | Focus: Repetition | B |
