Skill | Comment | We focused on | Grade |
---|---|---|---|
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) | Comment: For his first session today the trainer worked on his loose lead walking to give him a nice start and help him focus for the rest of the day. They walked him in car park with another dog near by, while he needed a quick refresher course he was quick to get back on track, needed minimal lures and rewards but the trainer did noticed he was more distracted on grass so spent the last half of session building engagement while on grass and was able to get him walking nicely right next to the trainer. | Focus: Manners | B+ |
Skill learnt: Trick Training | Comment: For his second session the trainer worked on building duration for his “hold” skills today and introduced a verbal command . He smashed this today making some real progress, in order to build frustration to try and get him to hold it for longer the trainer held the hose piece to start getting him to almost tug on it, they would then ask for his release and reward, from here once he had the idea to hold it in his mouth between his teeth the trainer started letting go and slowly increased the time he held the object in his mouth, he was very quick with raising this time especially after we showed him exactly what we wanted at the start. From here the trainer started introducing the verbal and repeating this process over and over. Right at the end the trainer test him by putting the hose on the couch and asking him to “hold”, he walked straight over to it and picked it up in his mouth and held it for a short amount of time! | Focus: Duration | B+ |
Skill learnt: Place Training | Comment: For his final session the trainer worked on his place training with a focus on keeping calm around distractions and worked on sending to and from 2 spots, he as pretty settled in so the trainer used the flirt pole to try and initiate some play from him, initially this was tough for him not to chase but using his rewards the trainer was able to encourage him to stay on his bed while the flirt pole was flung around and they even used playing with the pole as a reward for boat which he loved! He did really well this session showing off his ability to pick up on criteria of training sessions quickly! | Focus: Distraction | B+ |
