Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: We brought Zoltan down to our classroom, focusing on working around other dogs. To achieve this, we had another dog walk in the opposite direction, making passes near us and gradually getting closer each time. Zoltan took a couple of repetitions to walk by our side, but once he did, he was glued to our leg. Notably, Zoltan didn't pay any attention to the other dog we passed. As we continued walking, his engagement grew stronger, concluding the lesson successfully. Focus: Back to Basics B+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: In the classroom, we continued with Zoltan's "place" skill, also working around other dogs. We began with some repetition, as he was a bit rusty with the skill, stepping off the designated area quite a few times before his release and even ignoring his trainer when asked to go onto place. After a few repetitions, Zoltan got back into training mode, following the instructions to go on and off the bed. We then walked a new dog past him as he stood on the bed, with the other dog passing closer and closer. Zoltan would glance at the other dog as they passed, but he didn't give them any attention, remaining engaged with his trainer throughout. Focus: Back to Basics B
Skill learnt: Crate Training Comment: Zoltan finished the day with his recall. We stayed in the classroom, returning to basics to get him back up to speed since he was quite distracted. After some repetition, Zoltan started coming back consistently, albeit slowly, as he would try to linger on smells before heading back. As the lesson progressed, he began coming back more quickly each time, concluding the day with an immediate response to every recall. Focus: Back to Basics C+
