Skill | Comment | We focused on | Grade |
---|---|---|---|
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) | Comment: We took Zoltan over to the kennels to work on his loose lead under distraction. We walked next to another dog nearby who was loudly trying to get Zoltan’s attention. Zoltan did well staying next to his trainer’s side as we got closer and closer while still engaging in the skill. The other dog grabbed Zoltan’s attention a couple of times, so we worked on the skill at this distance to push him. As we continued walking, Zoltan started to ignore him and completely engage with his trainer. | Focus: Obedience | B+ |
Skill learnt: Trick Training | Comment: Zoltan continued working in his weave skill in the classroom, focusing on completely phasing out the lure and completing the skill with just the hand signals and verbal. Zoltan has gained the confidence to make his way through our legs quickly as we ask him to complete the skill. We practiced getting Zoltan to go through our legs using a point with our left hand or right hand depending on the side we want him to go through and the verbal “weave”. By the end of the lesson, Zoltan quickly completed the skill with just a point. | Focus: Repetition | B |
Skill learnt: Recall | Comment: We finished our day off with Zoltan’s recall skill it the paddock on our longest long line. Zoltan came back most of the time, running back to his trainer. As we worked, Zoltan got the zoomies and started to sprint around the paddock, still coming back when called but spending his time when not in the skill having fun. Once he had relaxed, we finished the lesson with Zoltan strongly. | Focus: Obedience | A |
