Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Engagement Comment: For her first session today the trainer noticed she was really distracted and wasn’t responding to her reward marker of “yes”. It’s important that during training Zolli is responding to this marker as it’s the easiest and most efficient way to communicate to her she is doing a good job in order to increase the likelihood of good behaviours. For her first session today the trainer took Zolli for some loose lead walking while doing some engagement work. The frisbee charged her marker today which is the first thing they did to get her focused on her trainer. To do this they simply would reward Zolli and give the reward marker “yes” when ever Zolli would look at the trainer, this was repeated until the trainer was able to say “yes” and Zolli would whip her head towards them looking for a reward. It took the whole first session but the trainer was able to charge her marker and get her ready for the rest of the day. Focus: Manners C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: For his second session today the trainer worked on his drop skill. Out of his basic obedience this is the one that needs the most work. He is only able to do this skill at the moment from a sitting position and still requires a lure to get into the position properly. However throughout this session today the trainer was able to start pairing the verbal of “drop” to the movement of getting into the final position. Once she has a good understanding of this we can move on and start to train her to do this from a standing position as well as from a sit. Even though she has some work to do still she made some good progress today and really impressed the trainer. Focus: Repetition C
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For her final session today the trainer worked on another basic obedience skill of Zolli’s to help settle her down when she gets a bit too high energy. The focus today was on increasing How long Zolli can stay on place as well as working around others dogs as distractions. She did really well today and was able to both ignore the dogs and was able to increase the distance she was sent to place which was awesome! Zolli was great today and the trainer could see her progress today in her skills, they were also really impressed with her drive and the energy she brought to her sessions today. Focus: Distraction C+
