Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Recall Comment: Zimba’s first session today was focused on his recalls and loose lead outside. Zimba did well with his recalls, we had people and dog distractions to work around this morning. We even had a ride on mower go past while we did a recall. He got a little bit distracted by the mower but still managed to go into a sit position. Keep working on his recalls with some more distractions! Focus: Distraction B+
Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object) Comment: Zimba’s second session today was focused on his paws up and getting him to move his back end around. We introduced a slightly smaller pod for him to do paws up on and he did really well, it took him a few minutes but he managed to do it! Once he was comfortable with this we used our body to push his back legs around a little bit. Doing this encourages him to focus on his back legs while keeping his front feet on the pod. Even if he took one small step we rewarded him because we want him to feel confident that moving his back legs is what’s getting him the rewards. Focus: Confidence B+
Skill learnt: Ring a Bell Comment: Zimba’s last session today was focused on his ring the bell skill. We took a step back and just used a piece of rope to really help him understand that he needs to pull on it instead of just nibbling it. He did better with this and actually pulled the rope a couple times. When he did this we jack-potted it and gave him a few pieces of cheese! Keep pushing this skill and see how he goes! Focus: Foundation B
