Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Zimba’s first session was loose lead walking. This was done with a dog having a run in the training yard. This dog was close and Zimba did get quite distracted at first. Increasing the distance from the dog meant Zimba started to focus on the trainer. During the session the trainer was able to get quite close to the other dog and Zimba worked hard to stay focused on what he needed to do. Focus: Distraction B+
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: Next session the trainer worked on getting Zimba though the hoop and incorporated this with loose lead walking in the classroom with another dog being trained. Zimba was quite worried about the hoop at the start even though he has previously gone through one a while ago. The trainer walked Zimba up and down the classroom a few times first passed the hoop. (And passed the other dog training) the trainer got closer and closer to the hoop until Zimba had to make an effort to go around the hoop. The trainer used a lure and had to work hard to get Zimba through the hoop. By the end of the session Zimba was going through two hoops with dog distractions! Awesome work. Focus: Repetition B
Skill learnt: Recall Comment: Last up was recalls and Zimba did a great job. On the way to the top car park the trainer went passed other dogs and then other staff members. The trainer allowed Zimba to continue walking ahead to the the distraction. Then using Va Zimba returned to the trainer. It was awesome to see him making good choices!! Focus: Distraction B+
