Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Recall Comment: Zimba’s first session was focused on his recalls outside. He was very distracted and not engaging with the trainer first thing but slowly started to show more and more focus. Zimba’s recalls are coming along nicely, we practiced on a slightly longer lead towards the end of his session and he responded well. He did struggle a couple times but he was still on lead so we had control on the situation. Keep practicing these at home and other familiar environments. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: For Zimba’s second session today we worked on something fun! This involved using a yoga mat and hiding treats in it. We roll it out and place treats all along it and then roll it back up. This encourages them to push the mat along to expose more treats! Zimba did so well at this, he showed no hesitation. Considering he is picky with what container he eats from he had no troubles whatsoever with this! Not only is it great for his confidence but also works on his scent tracking abilities! Focus: Confidence A
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For his last session today Zimba worked on a new skill! This skill was having him circle us while we stand still we send him around so he ends up on our left hand side. To do this we lure him around with our right hand, as he goes around we switch the treats to our left hand and continue luring him until he is standing on our left. This skill can be used to get him in a heel position or simply just as a party trick. He did really well with this and followed the lure with no problems! Keep luring him for now, as he gets better we can fade the lure to just one hand and introduce a label. Focus: Foundation C+
