|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)||Comment: First up for Zimba was a confidence walk to help start his day right. The trainer took him for a walk up a track where there were lots of opportunities for paws up. Zimba enjoyed the walk and got the zoomies part way through. He was happily picking up all the sticks he could find as well. A good fun session.||Focus: Confidence||A|
|Skill learnt: Conditioning||Comment: Next up was water confidence. The trainer used the shell pool with a little water in it. Zimba did well to try and get his treats out of the water. At one point Zimba tried to put his foot in, which was fantastic. However, given there wasn’t much water in the shell pool it was unstable, so Zimba got startled. The great thing was that Zimba recovered quickly and was soon trying to get the treats again. Practice at home putting treats in water for Zimba to get out.||Focus: Repetition||C+|
|Skill learnt: Recall||Comment: Last up was recalls and he struggled on the long lead. There were two other dogs training nearby and Zimba was quite distracted by these dogs. The trainer decided to lose the long lead and stick to the normal lead. At first Zimba needed a tug on the lead to get his attention and return to the trainer. As the session progressed Zimba started to focus more on the trainer and was willing to follow the trainer as she encouraged Zimba as she jogged backwards. Next time it would be good to continue practice with these distractions.||Focus: Distraction||C|
