Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Session one with Zazu the trainer started with the skill “Drop” in the cattery. The cattery was used as a high distraction as Zazu is known to struggle around cats. Zazu did struggle to begin with but with firm corrections she did start to gain better engagement. The trainer was rewarding her for checking in as well as her duration. Zazu over the session gained better engagement and held great duration although when released ran straight to the cat condo. The trainer corrected her and put her straight back into a drop. This was repeated throughout the session. Zazu did show improvement as the session progressed but she still needs to continue working on it. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Session two with Zazu we practiced her skill of place in the cattery. Zazu has very strong duration on place, she did not break once. She is very fixated on the cats in the cattery and if too close to the condos tries to get them. The trainer moved further away but the cats were still in clear sight. Zazu was sent to and from place while the cats were a high distraction for her. She did very well on place, even showing that she was relaxed. Focus: Distraction A
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Session three with Zazu we started with loose lead in the cattery although the cats were too high of a distraction for this skill just yet. So the trainer for the remainder of the session switched between drops and place still using cats as a distraction. Zazu continued to do well when participating in a skill although struggled when released. To help this the trainer increased the rewards when Zazu was released, by doing this Zazu showed improvement in her engagement. Focus: Distraction B+
