Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For her first session today the trainer took Zazu into the classroom early to escape the heat. The height of the hoop was kept the same as last session and just like the other day Zazu was successfully putting the ball in the hoop. However the trainer still had to stand close to the hoop so this session they worked on stepping away from the hoop each time she successfully put the ball in, by the end of the session they were able to stand 5-6 steps further away from the hoop and ended on this success! Focus: Conditioning B+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: To break up her training and have a little fun the trainer did some “high ten” training with Zazu. The trainer started by getting her to do a regular high five while their hand was low to the ground. While holding this paw they then asked her for the other paw in a high five before marking and rewarding. She picked this up super quickly and was soon giving both paws! So the trainer started to raise their hands up with each successful high ten until they were holding their hands out in front of them for Zazu to enthusiastically smack! The trainer also thought it would be good to do some of this training today as it also encourages the paws up behaviour that is needed for her to complete the “dunk it” skill. Focus: Foundation B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For her final session today she was returned to basketball again, this session however the hoop was increased past her head level and the trainer noticed that she did indeed start jumping up and putting the ball in the hoop. While she still isn’t putting her paws up as the trainer as yet to pair this with the “dunk it” skill she was bouncing on her front paws in order to dunk the ball in which the trainer was very pleased with! She started to get burnt out so before she could go backwards in the skill the trainer finished on a good dunk and finished the session out with some drop training making sure to keep her back legs nice and straight and tucked in! Focus: Repetition B+
