|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Leave||Comment: Xavier’s first session today was loose lead walking and it didn’t take long for him to settle and walk well!! The trainer took him straight outside today and Xavier wanted to go to all the good smells. The trainer again worked in a small area and changed direction when Xavier pulled. The trainer was able to walk much further today and although Xavier was interested in the other dogs he still worked well. Practice at home in the hallway and get Xavier walking well before repeating it in the back yard.||Focus: Foundation||C+|
|Skill learnt: Exposure||Comment: Next up was drops. He has improved his drops so much. His duration is much better now. The next goal will be to increase the distractions. At home, like loose lead walking practice in the house first and really get it proofed there. Then practice outside for different distractions.||Focus: Distraction||C+|
|Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object)||Comment: Last session was a bit of fun for Xavier. Another trick, paws up. This is a great confidence builder as well as helping with engagement. Xavier struggled to get his front feet up on the item at first. So the trainer used a step. Once Xavier worked that out the trainer was able to use other items. The last one was quite small and Xavier did well to put both feet on it. This is a great trick to do anywhere. When he is nailing it most of the time add a name to it and then use a food lure to get him to put his paws up on other things. It’s been great having Xavier train with us and we’d love to see you for a private appointment to go through everything we’ve done.||Focus: Repetition||C+|
