Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For his first session today the trainer took woody out to the car park and did some loose lead walking around his sister. He did absolutely amazing with this today, his engagement is incredible keeping his focus on the trainer almost the entire session. The trainer started keeping Bo and woody at a distance in the car park however it didn’t take long for that distance to decrease where they were basically working right next to each other! We were able to walk them and even get them into drops and walk the other around them. Engagement is key for this session and if you’re having trouble on the walk work to building engagement before heading out by doing some training. Focus: Distraction A
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For his second session today the trainer thought they would try a new skill with Woody. Using luring the trainer has started to work on weaving woody through traffic cones. He progressed very quickly with this skill today as the frisbee was able to phase out the lure after one session, he still requires large hand gestures to go through the weave but he is already showing great speed and confidence doing this skill, going forward the idea is to phase out the trainer having to guide him through the cones and he will just weave through as quickly as possible, it’s a great exercise to do with a dog such as Woody with a high work drive and lots of energy to burn. Focus: Foundation C+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For his last session today the trainer worked on his hoop jump. He had tried this before but hasn’t had much success in raising the height of the hoop. Today the trainer was successfully able to get a few repetition of woody jumping through the hoop, not just passing through it but jumping through! To get him to do this the trainer first just started where he was last time which was guiding him through the hoop at floor level, they then raised the hoop up a little bit and he did try jump through but was a little hesitant. To help with him figuring out her can jump through the hoop the trainer good him on the couch and then asked him to jump through the hoop from here, the height made it easier for him to finally jump through and after a few repetition of this the trainer was able to lower the ring closer to the floor and have him jump through it. Focus: Repetition C+
