Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For his first session Winston worked on his loose lead. He has a lot of energy and has trouble keeping his focus on the frisbee so todays session was all about engagement while loose lead walking. To achieve this every time Winston looked up at the trainer he was rewarded and for keeping his attention on them he is rewarded with a big jackpot! This encouraged Winston to check in with the trainer regularly which again keeps him closer while walking! He started getting good engagement close to the end of the session and started making some good progress! Focus: Conditioning C+
Skill learnt: Exposure Comment: For his second session the trainer continued his stairs training for the purpose of raising his confidence! He smashed this out today, the trainer wanted to try and phase out the lure and just have Winston climbing the stairs all on his own. To start he was a little jittery especially with going down the stairs however the trainer was able to harness his boisterous energy and channel it into his training, soon he was leaping up and down the stairs with ease and without a lure! Next time he does this training the trainer wants to try and get him to tackle the cattery stairs! Focus: Confidence C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: For his last session today the trainer worked on Winston’s drop skill. They noticed that he was having trouble dropping his rear end and so the trainer wanted to tackle this today. To do this the trainer is still utilising the lure however he is finally dropping his rear end down which is fantastic! The goal of today was to just get him to drop that rear end down and get a nice stable drop position. The trainer is happy to report after a little struggle Winston was able to successfully start dropping down and not only that the trainer was able to start linking the verbal of “Drop” to the skill which is amazing! Focus: Foundation C+
