Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For Wilbur’s first session we worked on his loose lead outside. This is a good skill as it allows Wilbur to walk nicely on the lead and not pull. Wilbur started off very distracted and wasn’t engaged/ pulling. After a couple of minutes of using ‘uh uh’ if he pulled and ‘yes’ when he did engage he started to show some excellent eye contact. Towards the end of the session Wilbur did amazing and didn’t need to be told ‘uh uh’ once. Focus: Distraction B+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: For Wilburs second session we worked on his drop skill with RLGL outside. This is a really good skill combined with RLGL as it gets Wilbur really excited and then asks him to drop to calm down. He was so amazing during this session and dropped every time asked. The only thing Wilbur struggled with was when the trainer threw the tug toy around while he was in his drop. If Wilbur broke his drop before being released he was told ‘uh uh’ and with the use of a foot break he corrected himself. Focus: Distraction A
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For Wilburs last session we worked on his drop duration and chin rest skill. We initially went to work on his chin rest however as we were in a new area Wilbur really struggled to focus so he was put into his drop so he could calm down and focus. After about 5 minutes we started to work on his chin rest skill. Wilbur still needed to be lured into his chin rest however he did really well once in it. The next step for Wilbur will be to continue working on luring him into his chin rest, marking ‘yes’ when his chin hits your hand. Focus: Foundation B
