Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For Tui’s first session we worked on his place skill with some conditioning. This is a good skill to teach Tui as it can teach him to relax onto the bed. Tui did well throughout this session but was nervous in the classroom environment. We used lots of yummy treats and cuddles to help him relax and he did improve over the session. Tui did well with her place skill and remained on/ went to place majority of the time asked. The few times Tui stepped off or didn’t go onto the bed when asked we used ‘uh uh’ and guided him back onto the bed. The next step for Tui will be to continue working on his place skill still using it to help him relax in the classroom environment. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object) Comment: For Tuis second session we worked on his paws up skill. This is a good skill to help build his confidence. He did really well throughout this session! To begin with we started with 2 paws however towards the end of the session we was stepping up onto the wobble board with all 4. We did use a lure to get all 4 paws up however Tui was stepping onto the wobble board with his front two paws without any lure. The next step for Tui will be to continue working on his paws up skill to continue boosting his confidence. Focus: Confidence B+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For Tuis last session we again worked on his place skill, specifically duration as we want him to relax on the bed. As he is a nervous boy we want to teach Tui to relax and place is a very useful skill for this. He held his duration pretty well, there was only a few times he stepped of before being released but when told ‘uh uh’ would correct himself. Tui took a couple of minutes but ended up relaxing really well as he even laid down and rested his head towards the end. The trainer would walk away and he would continue to remain on place. The next step for Tui will be to continue using place in situations that Tui is nervous in and allow him to settle himself on the bed. Focus: Distraction B+

We recommend your next step should be…
