Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: In his first session, Trex focused on building confidence around the trainers and facility. The trainer took it slow and spent several minutes conditioning themselves to Trex, he quickly began to take treats and offer behaviours such as sit. Once in the classroom, the trainer focused on conditioning his reward marker 'yes' and building engagement. Trex's high food drive helped achieve both these goals. Focus: Conditioning X
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: In his second session, Trex focused on building his overall confidence with the new skill paws up on a wobble board. Trex was initially hesitant to interact with the wobble board, however with some patience and treats he slowly began to build his confidence and touch it. He began with only a brief touch but this was still good progress. As his confidence continued to grow he started putting two paws onto the wobble board. The trainer was very impressed with his confidence and engagement during this session. Focus: Confidence B+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: In his final session, Trex focused on learning the new skill drop. We focused on this skill to build his basic obedience to help reduce his reactivity towards people and dogs. Trex initially struggled to follow a lure into the drop position from stand, to help him the trainer began luring him from sit. Using this method Trex began to fold into drop very well. After a few repetitions the trainer tried luring him from stand again, this time he folded straight down into a synx drop. While in drop the trainer used his reward marker yes and treats to encourage him to hold position. We would recommend practising this skill at home to further improve his understanding. Focus: Foundation C+
