Trex's Doggy Dayschool Report

It was a PLEASURE training with your pooch today and we look forward to continuing to help you achieve your goals, skills and improve your relationship.

Your journey does not end here, it has only just begun!

"I trained hard, I played hard! Please find below the skills we worked on and my results. I look forward to showing you what I learnt and working on them more with you!" If you have any questions about the skills we trained please feel free to contact todays trainer."

Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Engagement Comment: For his first session today Trex worked on his engagement around people and other dogs. Every time Trex looked at the trainer we rewarded him. We do this because every time Trex looked at us he was making the conscious decision to do that and not look at the other dogs/people. The more we do this in differing levels of distracting environments the more he will understand that the handler/trainer is more rewarding. This can help with his over arousal around dogs, keep working on this one, it can be used in conjunction with other skills. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For his second session today we worked on his loose lead walking. Following on from his first session we rewarded him for engaging with us. If he started to pull in front we turned and went the other way. Trex did very well and checked in frequently with the trainer, he did get a little bit excited around other dogs but it was easy to redirect his focus back to us. Keep practicing this, try in different environments. If he seems really distracted and just keeps pulling, take a step back and work somewhere a bit calmer. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Lastly Trex worked on his drop skill, we were focusing on his duration. We lured him into a drop, marked yes, released and rewarded him. The better he gets with this the longer we can keep him in a drop before releasing him. He strugggled a little bit outside today to hold it, but he did manage approx 20-30 seconds! There were lots of distractions including dogs and people. Trex did really well today under the close instruction of Brent Dry. Keep working on his basic skills, the better these are the more freedoms he can gain! Focus: Duration C+
