Trex's Doggy Dayschool Report

It was a PLEASURE training with your pooch today and we look forward to continuing to help you achieve your goals, skills and improve your relationship.

Your journey does not end here, it has only just begun!

"I trained hard, I played hard! Please find below the skills we worked on and my results. I look forward to showing you what I learnt and working on them more with you!" If you have any questions about the skills we trained please feel free to contact todays trainer."

Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Recall Comment: For his first session we started on engagement with food. Trex was happily following the thrown treats and checking back in with the trainer. This is great as mini recall practice as it gets him used to moving away and thrn returning to the trainer. Once he was doing well we moved onto recalls while he was freely moving around the classroom. He did well for his recall if the trainer had his attention before calling him but could struggle a bit if distracted. We did try a few recalls from a controlled position (sit/drop) but Trex doesn't have a high duration in these skills for this step just yet. At home practice his recalls on a long line in a low distraction environment to get him used to recalling even if distracted. Focus: Distance B
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For his second session we worked on loose lead in the classroom around another dog. Trex's engagement can be a bit hit or miss in this skill and he is easily distracted (would pull towards tennis ball or other staff member). He did do well around the other dog though but just needs some stronger foundations in this skill. At home work on loose lead in low distraction environments with a focus on building engagement. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: For his last session we worked on drops as he had struggled with this for recalls. Trex really struggles with his duration in drop so we spent the session building on the duration and trying to get his to stay in the drop just while the trainer stood up. He needs quite a bit more work in this skill but did show some improvement over the session. At home work on building his duration in drop. Focus: Duration C+

We recommend your next step should be…
