Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For his first session we worked on loose lead around the facility (paved area, carpark then grass) to build up his engagement and skill before taking him next door. TJ was quite good in each area though would get distracted with the odd sniff spot when walking on grass and would stop to give it a hard sniff. He showed good check ins, particularly with the "yes" marker but could get easily distracted. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For his second session we took him straight next door to work on his loose lead in a high distraction environment. TJ did good walking besides the odd sniff spot again but lacked a lot of engagement in this environment. This would be a good area for us to continue working on for him as it is quite distracting and similar to real world scenarios. For the last 5 minutes we did have some magpie guests hanging around (5-10m away). TJ did really well around them, he would look at them but was easily encouraged to keep walking past. We also practiced a bit of drop around them which was a bit hit or miss - as his engagement and focus increases on the oval this will become easier to do with him. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: For his last session he took TJ into our cattery accommodation to work on his conditioning and impulse control around cats and rabbits. He was a bit interested but also a bit cautious of the animals but would easily ignore them with food lures. We also practiced a few drops around them which he did OK with but could use some more work. Focus: Conditioning C+

We recommend your next step should be…
