Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For her first session today the trainer worked her outside with loose lead as well as door manners. To start they walked around the entire pet resort making Tink wait for every single door they could find! Not only this the trainer made her wait as they went back and forth through the doors only allowing her through with her release word, she was like usual a little distracted by the other dogs but she is getting much better and snapping her focus on to the trainer when given her “uh-uh” marker when doing some undesirable. She was then taken to the car park while dogs where being taken in and out, again through the use of her food rewards and her “uh-uh” marker the trainer was able to increase the desired behaviour of Tink focusing on the handler and keeping a nice loose lead and decreasing the undesired behaviour of focusing on the other dogs and not moving along with the lead. Focus: Manners B+
Skill learnt: Recall Comment: Today the trainer worked out the front on the grass doing recall with Tink for her second session. She is doing quite well with this skill so the trainer really wanted to test her today so did some food distraction! The trainer for a bowel of food and placed it out on the grass along Tink’s recall line back to the trainer. To start the trainer had the bowel off to the side and would ask Tink to recall, however this was too easy for Tink to focus on the trainer so they slowly moved her closer and closer to the bowel making it a bigger and bigger distraction. She did so well with this today working up to being able to recall past the bowel within a metre of it which was fantastic! She did try go towards the food a few times but the trainer was able to use her “uh-uh” marker to stop her, this was a fantastic session and in order to push this skill we need to continue pushing her in more and more challenging environments and with bigger and higher distractions. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: Tink was amazing for her last session, the trainer worked with her in the classroom just to minimise distractions and get a solid session of progress out of her. They worked on her sit and drop, going between the two positions and keeping the positions for a nice amount of time. They also did a bit of middles but today instead of getting her to go into middles while the trainer was still they worked on getting her to do it while they were walking along already! To start she was a bit hesitant to go in between the legs while they were moving but she was so locked on to her food rewards that she pushed through this worry and was easily walking between the trainers legs, this was a great way to end her day today as she was doing some great work and this is where we can pick up next time she comes in! She also did a quick photo shoot at our relax station and spent the last little bit of the session just relaxing and getting a massage from the trainer! Focus: Obedience B+
