Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Just like last week the trainer worked on pushing his loose lead by working a bit more with the left leg right leg training. Again this is when the trainer steps off with their left leg (one closest to Teddy) he knows that this means walk with me while stepping off with the left foot means stay put. This is extra training for loose lead that also helps train some obedience and impulse control all at the same time! Teddy smashed it showing just how quickly he can pick up new skills when nice and focused like today! Focus: Distraction B+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For his second session the trainer worked on his “put toys away” skill. Again for today the trainer was just trying to get Teddy to pick up the toys and move then closer to the bucket, if he isn’t able to firstly grab the toys and move them we can’t train to target the bucket as the put away point! The trainer used “shape training” to help with this today, they would toss the ball away from them enticing Teddy to chase it, once he got the ball if he brought it closer to the trainer he was rewarded! Slowly but surely Teddy put two and two together and by the end of the session was successfully starting to bring the ball closer each time it was tossed out! It may take a few more sessions before he is really across the start of this skill but he is making great progress each time he trains this skill. Focus: Foundation C+
Skill learnt: Sit Comment: For his last session today the trainer worked on some red light green light in the form of play today! First the trainer had to get Teddy in the mood for some play! Today the trainer discovered he really like movement and motion of the trainer while engaging with a toy, he had a high chase drive and so the movement helps him get interested in the play a lot easier! Once he was nice and jazzed up the trident would then periodically throughout the play ask for different obedience skills such as sit, drop Focus: Obedience B
