Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Sit Comment: For his first session today the trainer did a few of his basic obedience skills all in one session to both push and test Teddy! They started with a loose lead around the property which of course he smashed even on the grass! It was then the food delivery was happening so the trainer used this as a distraction to test Teddy in his drops and sits! They would walk him around the staff as they unloaded the big bags of dog food and the trainer would get Teddy into a drop or a sit as they would walk past him. He again did so well with this as well keeping his drop and even keeping his focus in the trainer. They did notice though that with his drops he could use a bit more duration training so they will do a bit of this today with Teddy in another session, all in all a great first session! Focus: Obedience B+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For his second session the trainer continued he spin and roll over session! Today the focus was on lessening how many treats are needed to get Teddy to do this. He did really well with this today and the trainer was successful on lessening the amount of rewards needed as he was following the hand gesture really well. They were also able to increase the speed at which Teddy was spinning which made it much easier to get him to do multiple spins in succession. His roll over is doing good as well the trident was able to start getting up and decreasing lures but he is still needing them to complete the roll over. All in all a good second session. Focus: Repetition B+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For his last session the trainer continued his “toy bucket” skill. Like in previous sessions the aim of this session was to get Teddy to start bringing the toy closer and closer to the bucket until eventually he drops it in, it’s important that once he hits a certain milestone (getting it closer to the bucket or in the bucket) he can’t be rewarded for going backwards, only forwards. With this in mind Teddy was actually able To get the ball into the bucket today and not only once but multiple times! While he still hasn’t had the verbal paired today is the first day the trainer has seen him put the ball in the bucket willingly! They ended on this super positive note and put him back in to the pet resort with a big sense of accomplishment! Focus: Conditioning C+
