|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Place Training||Comment: For Sunny’s first session today we worked on his place skill. We focused on keeping him engaged while sending him and releasing him from place. Sunny would get a little bit distracted by the other dogs in the classroom so we had to redirect his focus back to the trainer. To do this the trainer simply called his name, made some funny noises and moved backwards. As soon as Sunny started towards the trainer we marked “yes” and gave him a reward. Sunny had no problems taking treats and seemed quite confident and curious in the classroom. Sunny seems to have some basic knowledge of the place skill and seemed to enjoy it! We lured Sunny onto the raised bed, marked “yes” and rewarded him a couple times and then used the release word “break” and guided him off. Keep practicing this at home as Sunny is showing good progress.||Focus: Foundation||B|
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down||Comment: Sunny’s second session today was focused on his drop durations. Sunny showed knowledge of this skill already and was able to be put into position with a hand cue. Sunny would stay in his drop while the trainer stood up, the trainer was also able to take a step away and then back to Sunny to give him his treat. Keep practicing this with Sunny as he is showing awesome progress. Towards the end of the session Sunny seemed really tired and would stay in his drop even when released. He did so well with his drops!||Focus: Duration||B|
|Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object)||Comment: For his last session Sunny worked on his paws up skill. We used a squishy pod with soft rubber spikes on it. Sunny was a little hesitant to put his feet on it to start with but the trainer persisted and we were able to lure him on eventually. He started with just one paw but eventually put both front feet on it and we jackpotted this with a few treats! Sunny was so tired and didn’t last the whole session, halfway through he just plonked himself on the floor. Sunny’s last attempt at paws up was successful so we were happy to end the session with lots of cuddles and a nice walk back up to the kennels!||Focus: Confidence||B|
