Skill | Comment | We focused on | Grade |
---|---|---|---|
Skill learnt: Middle Position | Comment: First session Summer worked on her middles. Today we worked on standing at different angles and asking for the skill. This helps strengthen the skill. Initially Summer was a bit reluctant to go into middles so we went back to basics using treats to help get into position, after a few repetitions we no longer needed the lure and she was responding to the verbal. The different angles were a bit of a challenge for her but she is showing good progress. | Focus: Distance | C+ |
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down | Comment: Summers second session we worked on her drops. Todays focus was repetition and emergency drops (her dropping while we begin moving away). Initially Summer needed a hand signal to get into position but after a few quick repetitions she responded well to the verbal cue only. When working on the emergency drops Summer liked to keep walking with us as we stepped away, we worked on just taking 1-2 steps away at a time, this can be gradually built up over time. | Focus: Obedience | C+ |
Skill learnt: Obstacle Course (Confidence Building) | Comment: Final session Summer went through the confidence course. She happily goes through the first obstacles but still shows a lot of hesitation around the wobble bridge. She put one paw on it today and then didn’t want to go over it. We tried lots of encouragement but she showed lots of clear avoidance to the object. We started to go around the other way and work with the A frame and tyre obstacles, Summer went over the A frame a couple of times but still was hesitant. At home use different objects to build her confidence up about going over them where she feels more comfortable in her home. | Focus: Confidence | X |
