Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: First session Stormy worked on his place skill. He is showing good progress in this and beginning to settle faster within the class environment. He can still be quick to step off the bed but is easily redirected back to the skill by saying uh uh and pointing at the bed. Today he worked in the classroom with a few other dogs also being trained near by while we focused on building his duration. Keep working on this at home before adding further distractions. Focus: Duration C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Stormys second session we worked on his drop. Today he was responding to the verbal cue “drop” paired with a hand signal (hand moving towards the ground). Todays focus was increasing his duration. He can be quick to pop up from position but as the session went on he was able to hold it for a few seconds longer each time. Continue building up his duration at home. Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Final session stormy worked on his loose lead. Stormy can get quite excited when walking and pull ahead so today we went back to basics, starting in the classroom to minimise distraction level. Each time Stormy looked at us we marked “yes” and rewarded to help build his engagement. Reducing the external distractions really helped Stormy start to focus on his trainer and follow direction change. Keep working on his leash manners at home in familiar environments like inside or the back yard before moving to higher stimulating environments Focus: Back to Basics C+
