Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: The first session was a focus on loose lead walking and Squid did a great job . He tried to pull a couple of times however the trainer changed direction and as the session progressed he settled and was walking well. Before you take him for a walk, walk in the driveway first, change direction if he starts to pull. Next time the trainer would like to have him settle much quicker. Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Squid did a great job on his place training today, whilst another dog was also on place in the classroom. He did break a couple of times but again as the session progressed he stayed on place until released. As he was doing so well the trainer started to send Squid to place from a distance. He did well at this and is something that you can build on at home with him. Send him to place from a little distance from his place and slowly increase that distance. Focus: Distance C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: For his final session the trainer took Squid out into the yards to work on his drop skill. Squid did struggle with this as there were so many good smells. The trainer used this and just did lots and lots of repetitions until Squid was dropping straight away. Then the trainer started getting Squid to stay in the drop position for longer periods of time. Squid did well at this. Keep practicing this at home as this will help with this jumping as well. Next time the trainer would like to see Squid hold the drop position under higher level of distractions. Focus: Repetition C+
