|We focused on
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)
|Comment: for his first session today Sonny was worked on his loose lead walking skills. He did so well this morning! Coming out of the pet resort accomodation he was really well mannered and waited at almost every door! He was worked on the concrete outside the classroom today and he wasn’t only just tested on his loose lead walking but also was worked on his auto sits while walking. To start he was a little distracted however once he realised there was food rewards he started focusing a lot quicker each time! Using exciting movements seems to entice him to follow the trainer a little more so try add excitement into his walks.
|Skill learnt: Recall
|Comment: For his second session the trainer worked on Sonny’s recall. The trainer worked with him inside the room as outside was very busy with activity today and very distracting for working on Sonny’s recalls. Inside the classroom he was recalled successfully away from other dogs in crates and a small amount of food so the trainer wanted to step it up a notch and started using toys to try and distract Sonny. This is when the trainer learnt about Sonny’s love on tennis balls! While he wasn’t able to recall away from them it was amazing to see just how excited he got by the tennis balls as this means we can possibly use them in his training to motivate him if he is ever not taking treats for the day! However in order to end his recall on a positive the trainer took the balls away and made Sonny recall away from some of the other trainers writing their notes for the day, he ended on a really good recall not only did he return to the trainer but he also came back with such enthusiasm And excitement that the trainer couldn’t help but give him a big food reward and some cuddles!
|Skill learnt: Desensitisation
|Comment: For his last session today Sonny was taken into the cattery for some desensitisation! Just like last time he was rewarded for his good behaviours of leaving the cats alone and checking them out and then moving away on his own! He even dealt with a grumpy old cat who was hissing at him! He was so good in this session exploring while keeping within his boundaries! He finished his day with a bit of a play in the classroom to really solidify his great day!
