Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Spin Comment: Sofia’s first session was an engagement game. All this entailed was throwing a treat on the floor. When she ate it and looked to the trainer yes was said and another treat thrown. At first it took a while for Sofia to work it out. But once she did, she was really looking for those treats. The next part of the session was teaching Sofia spin. This is a good skill for her to learn, so it can be used to get her focus back on the job. She did a great job with this and the trainer was able to fade out the food lure by the end of the session. Still use a food lure at home to start with and just lure Sofia around in a tight circle. Focus: Repetition B
Skill learnt: Sit Comment: Second session was another try for drop! Which she did under the trainer’s leg but still very reluctantly. So to keep Sofia focus and enjoying the training the trainer switched up to sit and her duration with this. Sofia has really improved with this skill and held the position well. Next time the trainer will add in more distraction to help Sofia learn to hold sit until released. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Final session for Sofia was place. She did struggle to stay on the place bed and it was simple things like the trainer making noises that would get Sofia jumping off the bed. The trainer also moving around the place bed meant Sofia wanted to hop off. As the session progressed Sofia was making good choices and thinking about what she needed to do. Like her sits, next time more distractions will be added. Focus: Distraction C+

We recommend your next step should be…
