|We focused on
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)
|Comment: For his first session the trainer wanted to make sure he was nice and focused so they worked on building engagement with Seb. To do this they took Seb for a loose lead walk around the property as this helps with engagement while also working his obedience on lead. Every time Seb would look at the trainer he was rewarded but not only that he was also praised and the trainer made a big deal about it, this was to encourage him not only with food but with enthusiasm as well, sometimes when the trainer has positive energy it can imprint onto the dog they are training. He started to really check in with the trainer once he learnt looking at them means a fun time with treats! He did really well this session and the trainer is very impressed with him.
|Skill learnt: Place Training
|Comment: For his second session today he was a lot more attentive to the trainer and worked a little better than last time the trainer tried place. Todays session had a focus on sending him to place and holding around distractions. The trainer was able to get again increase the distance Seb is able to be sent to place by slowly adding steps away from the place bed each time they ask Seb to go to place, he was able to go across the classroom today. However he also had people distractions during this session as the classroom was very very busy! He did really well during this session not only being able to hold around distractions and increasing his distance but he also seemed to get a better drive for training and was really getting into it which is fantastic!
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down
|Comment: For his last session the trainer really wanted to finally get Seb to drop! Unfortunately he didn’t quite get there today however the trainer was as close as they have ever been with him! To help the trainer for one of the place beds and put it up on top of the ottomans a creating a small “tunnel” that Seb has to go through, they then attempted to lure him through this tunnel. He didn’t get all the way through today however he did put himself on the floor today to get his treats which was amazing! He only did it once and it took a lot to get him to go through but he is finally starting to explore getting on the ground for the trainer!
