Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Sadie’s first session was place and she was once again pushed with those distractions! Food and cuddles being the big two that she struggles with. First up was food and after a few false starts Sadie was really ignoring the food. Next up her massive desire to have cuddles! The trainer kept moving away and squatting down and talking to Sadie. She finds this hard to resist but she got there and the trainer could really see Sadie working hard to make the good choices! The best part was when she was released from place and got to have those cuddles!! Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Next up for Sadie was ring the bell with the treat and train. Sadie does enjoy the great and train machine and it’s great watching her working her brain to figure out what she has to do! By the end of the session she was consistently hitting that bell although moving it rather than ringing it. Next time it will be refining it so Sadie is rewarded for actually ringing the bell. Focus: Repetition B
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Final session for Sadie was drop. As she did struggle a little last time outside the trainer took it back in the classroom. As there were no more dogs training the trainer was able to drop the lead and walk further away from Sadie. Sadie’s duration was great until the trainer walked near the treat and train! That was Sadie’s undoing! So got so excited she struggled to refocus again. So this is going to be a distraction. That can be used next time! Focus: Duration C+
