Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: In Rue’s first session today we conditioned her to the ‘yes’ marker, the yes marker is our reward marker basically. All you have to do in this is say yes and give her a treat, this will help Rue understand that she is doing a fantastic job. After a few minutes of that we then practiced her place skill. Place is a self settling skill, it’s a raised bed and basically all rue has to do is have four paws on the object, as soon as she is on the object we reward with yes and treats. When releasing her we will throw food on the floor while saying break. She is only allowed of place if we release him. Focus: Duration B
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: In Rue’s second session we trained drops. Because shes only a puppy we were luring him into a drop and as soon as she puts his bum down we would the yes and reward, kept practicing this and her duration did get slightly better towards the end so we were slowing down the treats which helps his duration. Focus: Duration B
Skill learnt: Targeting (touch) Comment: Rue’s last session we trained touch. Now he was touching my hard really well so I assumed he already knew touch. We used a different object which she did struggle with. In this session he was exhausted by the end of it that’s why I wanted to do something more relaxing because puppy’s do get tired quickly. Focus: Repetition C+

We recommend your next step should be…
