Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object) Comment: Session one with Roddy we began with his skill of paws up. This skill was practiced first to gain Roddys engagement and confidence. Roddy did start off hesitant and wasn’t taking treats, although after a few tries and some pats he gained a lot better engagement with the trainer. Paws up this session was practiced on the wobble boards and textured pods. Roddy did very well for session one! Focus: Confidence A
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Session two with Roddy we practiced his drops through play! The trainer razzed him up with toys running around then asked for a drop. Roddy did start off with one or two hesitant drops although he quickly formed into doing amazing drops. Because roddy loves his toys so much it was a good lesson to challenge his drop duration. Roddy dis really well! He had great engagement with the trainer as well as duration. Focus: Distraction A
Skill learnt: Muzzle Conditioning Comment: Session three with Roddy we practiced his middle conditioning. Roddy was pretty tired by session three having not much engagement or enthusiasm. It was a warm afternoon so the trainer was not worried. Although roddy wasn’t to keen the trainer managed to get him to practice a few times before asking him for a drop and practicing his duration while letting him chill down. Focus: Desensitisation C+
