Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: In his first session, Roddy focused on further developing his skill drop with duration, distance and distractions. Roddy has shown great progress with his drops, he is responding well to the drop cue paired with a hand signal. Once in drop he can break easily but with some guidance he began to maintain it well. The trainer was able to begin taking steps away from him and around the classroom. As he was performing so well, the trainer began to use his favourite thing (ball) as a distraction. Starting slowly, holding the ball, then rolling across the floor and finally bouncing it. Roddy initially broke drop as he was too excited, but he quickly began to maintain it well. He successfully remained in drop while the trainer bounced his ball in front of him. This is a huge achievement for Roddy. Keep up the great work. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: In his second session, Roddy focused on further developing his skill place with duration and distractions (training within the classroom with three other dogs in close proximity). Roddy performed well, he initially required a lure to go onto the bed, this lure was quickly faded as the session progressed. As he held good duration the trainer was able to begin taking steps back, away from him. He successfully remained on place. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: In his final session, Roddy focused on further developing his skill loose lead within the classroom and pet retreat facility. Roddy performs well in low distracting environments (classroom), he showed great engagement and walked nicely next to the trainers left side. Once the distractions increase (going outside) he began to lose focus. He slowly began to regain engagement in this environment but it was minor. Focus: Foundation C+
