Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Middle Position Comment: In his first session, Remi focused on further developing his skill middle as a recall. We focused on this skill to challenge Remi with a know skill in a different way. Remi was moving around a secured area when the trainer would randomly ask for middle. Remi initially struggled, he would return to the trainer but sit in front of them. The trainer went back to basics and incorporated a lure, this helped Remi develop a further understanding and begin to perform well. After several repetitions, this lure was reduced as he was performing so well. Focus: Obedience B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: In his second session, Remi focused on further developing his skill reverse paws up (back paws). We focused on this skill to further develop his problem-solving skills and his understanding of this skill. Remi performed well, he showed good engagement with the trainer and interacted with the pod quickly. The trainer initially used a lure to guide him onto the pod, however as the session progressed this lure was faded and he began to offer the behaviour on his own. Focus: Foundation B+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: In his final session, Remi focused on further developing his skill emergency drops around the facility. We focused on this skill as the trainer noticed Remi struggled with his drops throughout the day. Initially, Remi was hesitant to go into drop, but with some guidance from the trainer, he began to perform well. To challenge him further the trainer began to increase their speed (jogging). This was difficult for Remi, however, he quickly began to drop despite how the trainer was moving. We would recommend practising this skill at home under a variety of different situations. Focus: Obedience C+

We recommend your next step should be…
