Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Session one with Poppy we started with the skill “ Emergency drop” this skill was practiced outside to begin with and then we moved into the classroom for dog distractions. Poppy did very well outside and inside to begin with although there were a couple of dogs out so her engagement wasn’t so good, in saying that she never broke her drop! Or reacted! Great session. Focus: Distraction A
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: For session two with Poppy we practiced her skill of “door manners ”. We began this skill in the kennel then in the cattery/ classroom. Poppy struggled to begin with but with a few “uh uh” corrections she gained engagement and duration in her drops before being released. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For session three with Poppy we practiced the skill of “Hold”. This session the trainer worked on Poppy’s holding duration. Through the whole session Poppy had great engagement with the trainer! By the end of the session her holding of objects was increased, this was achieved by each time Poppy held the object longer then usual the trainer gave Poppy multiple treats “jack potting” which slowly increased her duration in this skill. Focus: Repetition B+
