Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For her first session today the trainer worked on sending Pippy to place and increasing the distance. For a bit of an extra challenge today the trainer used 3 seperate place spots and objects that were cycled through and interchanged. The objects were the little place bed, a regular place bed and a towel! Pippy was amazing during this session, passionate and engaged she ripped through this first session and successfully hit the right place object each and every time and the frisbee was able to successfully increase the distance as well. Focus: Distance B+
Skill learnt: Targeting (touch) Comment: For this session the trainer focused on increasing her touch targeting duration she hold the touch to help with her scent training! Like last time the trainer used the touch pole that’s part of the treat and train package as the object she had to touch, to start they actually asked her for chin as she has great duration with this, once doing this to start just for a little bit they then started asking her to touch, she started off trying to actually hold the object in her mouth with her teeth so the trainer had to work around this today and wait her out until she stopped trying to mouth the mouth object, once she stopped this it was much easier to slowly build up her duration, presenting the object with excitement and speed seemed to jazz her up and she would be less likely to hold the duration so the trainer made sure to present to object in a calm manner to her which seemed to help. Focus: Duration B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For her final session today the trainer worked on her roll over. She is finding it hard to roll on to her side initially and refuses to loosen her back legs to allow herself to slide on to her side so this was the focus of the session today. To help her go on to her side the trainer made a barrier with their arm behind her, they noticed she was shuffling back a bit rather than turning her body so by using the arm barrier they were able to use special pressure to get her to finally start going on to her side! This was reported until the arm was able to be removed. Right close to the end of the session when she was going on her side the trainer did attempt to lure her over for a roll over however they did need to help her a bit by pushing her over the threshold, once she had done this she was a little more willing to reach a bit further but she still isn’t rolling over the whole way. Focus: Confidence C+
