Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: For her first session we just spent some time letting Pippa adjust to a new trainer and learning to relax in the classroom. She was a little unsure in the kennel and was initially barking at thr trainer. After spending some time sitting in the kennel with her she starting coming up and lying down best the trainer. While she didn't take treats this session she did allow the trainer to put the slip lead on and take her to the classroom where she just worked on relaxing around the distractions. Focus: Conditioning X
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For her second session we worked on the place skill. At the start Pippa was trying to avoid going on the bed but after a bit of encouragement she was able to step up onto it. After this initial place she was quite good at following a hand onto place and we were able to start working on her duration and luring her on and off the bed. As she still wasn't taking treats we worked on rewarding her with pats. She seemed happiest to just lie on the bed and take in the world at her own pace. Having a good place skill will help her to relax and focus in the classroom so make sure you are working on this skill a lot at home. Focus: Duration B
Skill learnt: Exposure Comment: For her third session we dis start with some paws up training to help build confidence but as Pippa wasn't following lures she wasn't very interested in the skill. So instead we took her for an exposure walk outside and around the property so she could get to know the area and build up confidence that way. Pippa seemed to really enjoy this and was running ahead to sniff so many different things! This is also a great way for Pippa to burn off any nervousness and stress from being in the classroom. She did bark at one of the trainers that came out but was otherwise good. Focus: Conditioning X
