Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: Piper’s first session was to be loose lead walking but instead turned into conditioning to the farm animals. Piper was quite worried about the cows at first. They came right up to the fence and Piper went straight between the trainers legs. She also barked a couple of times. By the end of the session Piper was taking treats right near the cows and was also ignoring them to smell the good smells. Was a fantastic session for Piper and great progress. Focus: Desensitisation X
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Second session for Piper was drops. She had a bit of a struggle to get in position and had to be lured into position. The trainer worked with Piper to hold that position longer! But halfway through the session the trainer was able to walk around Piper. Then the trainer worked on deletion with Piper to help her learn to drop quicker. The goal will be to fade out hand signals and have Piper dropping on a voice command. Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Piper’s last session was place. At first she popped off of the trainer moved away however, the trainer was soon about to make big movements around the place bed. And by the end of the session the trainer was walking to the other end of the classroom without Piper breaking. Next time the trainer will work on higher distractions like running past instead of walking! Focus: Distraction B
