Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For Pickles first session we worked on his roll in a blanket skill. This skill is good for concentration. During this session we worked on increasing Pickles duration of holding the blanket. At times we would also ask Pickle for a roll over. Towards the end of the session we started to ask Pickle to ‘hold’ and then straight away asked for a Rollover. Pickles started to grab the towel and rollover however he wouldn’t hold the towel for long enough to wrap himself in it. The next step for Pickle will be to continue working on getting him to hold the blanket for long enough so he can wrap himself in it. Focus: Foundation B
Skill learnt: Middle Position Comment: For Pickles second session we worked on his middles skill. This skill is good as it puts them in a controlled position around distractions. For this session we worked on getting pickle to walk in middles, fading out the lure. This was done by progressively moving the lure out and placing my hands behind my back instead of using them to lure him forward. If Pickle broke before being released he was told ‘nope’ and asked for ‘tween’ again. By the end of the session Pickle was able to walk forwards and backwards without a lure. While Pickle could walk backwards without a lure he would often walk very fast backwards, the next step will be to slow Pickle down when he walks backwards in middles. Focus: Repetition B+
Skill learnt: Middle Position Comment: For Pickles last session we worked on his middles skill again. This session was spent trying to get Pickle to drop in the middles position when the trainer dropped their right leg. To create the foundations for this the trainer would asked Pickle to drop as she lowered her right leg. Pickle did really well and was dropping when asked so the trainer started to fade out the lure. Pickle did really well towards the end and had progressed from the start. The next step for Pickle will be to continue fading out the lure for him drop in middles position. Focus: Repetition B+
