Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: The trainer spent this session increasing Pickles duration of staying on the skate board by teaching him to only get off when he is given his release word, as long as he has a good take off this should allow the trainer to have pickle to as far as they want an the board. At first the trainer held the board still again and just asked Pickle to get up onto the board and hold a long duration stand, rewarding with his release word as his duration increased. The trainer then started rolling the board forwards just a little bit and continuing to reward with his release word. By the end of the session the trainer was very happy with how quickly Pickle had paired his release word to getting off the board and finished on him having a ride across the classroom and staying in the board even when it hit the wall! Focus: Duration A
Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object) Comment: The trainer thought it best to break up his training and so worked on a little more of his selfie skill as well as some nail board training. With his nail board he was only rewarded today when he started scratching with both paws at the same time in quick succession. For the other half of the session the trainer worked on the hand gesture for Selfie. Today the trainer was able to hold their phone in their hand and without a lure extend the phone out giving Pickle the verbal command of “selfie” and he knew exactly what to do! All in all a great second session. Focus: Conditioning A
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For his last session today the trainer put the new criteria learnt in the first session to the test and worked some more on pickles skate board outside on the concrete. Now the trainer increased the speed at which Pickle approached the board and rode it. To start he did struggle a little to stay on but this had more to do with obstacles in the way (rocks and dirt making the skateboard jump around) Once they were swept away the trainer once again started slowly and was successfully able work Pickle up to being able to keep on the board while going quickly until given his release word. The trainer had a great day with Pickle seeing lots of quick progress and can’t wait to work with the legend again soon! Focus: Duration A
