|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down||Comment: Phoenix began his day practicing his ‘emergency drop’ skill in the classroom with another dog and trainer present. Phoenix did really well! There were a couple times where he would drop a tad slow, but with the use of “ah ah”, he would drop quicker. As his leg is a little bummed, the trainer had him hold drop duration a few times once he was down, so he was not constantly getting up and down throughout the whole session. Keep up the awesome work at home!||Focus: Distraction||B+|
|Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object)||Comment: Next up, Phoenix worked on his ‘paws up’ skill, just for something fun and to build his confidence around another dog in the room. He did really well! Phoenix tested out our new paws up object the step360 pro. At first he was very skeptical and would only place one paw on, but as time went on and with lots of encouragement, he got both paws on!! The trainer then worked on building his duration as he was a little scared and jumped off as soon as he received his treat. By the end of the session, Phoenix was able to remain on the wobble board until released, which is awesome! Keep testing him out at home with this, it’s awesome to see his confidence grow.||Focus: Confidence||B+|
|Skill learnt: Place Training||Comment: To finish off, Phoenix worked on his ‘place training’ in the kennels, focusing on sending to and from. He did EXCELLENT! He showed no signs of reactivity, even when other dogs were barking at him. He had beautiful engagement on the trainer and went to place exactly when told. Place is also a great skill to incorporate around other dogs as it is a controlled skill and is where Phoenix knows to relax. Great work today, Phoenix!||Focus: Distraction||A|
