Your journey does not end here, it has only just begun!

Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For her first session today we went straight into her loose lead walking to help settle her down. Phoenix wasn’t super interested in the treats to start with but that’s ok, we just walked up and down the walkway near the carpark. After a few minutes she started to check in frequently, she still didn’t take any treats but seemed happy with verbal praise. By the end of the session she was a lot more settled and took some treats! Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Phoenix’s second session today was focused on her drop skill with Chema around. We did this outside and started at a large distance. As soon as Phoenix saw Chema we started to reward frequently to help keep her focused. She did fairly well but lacked engagement with the trainer. We kept Chema at a distance that Phoenix could handle and worked there. If he came any closer Phoenix broke position. It’s good to work at this critical distance and slowly (very slowly) decrease it. Keep working on this, Phoenix showed some good control. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For her last session today Phoenix worked on her impulse control! We used the place skill for this and tested her with a tennis ball. To start the session we had a game with the tennis ball to get her excited. After a while of this we stopped the game and asked for “place”. Phoenix stopped playing and jumped onto the bed, however still holding the tennis ball. Despite this she listened to the command and did settle. We did this for the entire session, she seemed to listen more intently as the session progressed. Focus: Distraction B+
