Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Penny’s first session was loose lead walking with some fetch and recall in the session as well. Penny’s walking was pretty good one she settled. At first she wanted to pull but the trainer changed direction when that happened. Penny was great with fetching a tennis ball. She was bringing the ball back numerous times. However after a while Penny got bored with it and no longer brought the ball back. Penny’s recall as a start was very good and came responded well for short distances and low distractions. Next time it will be great to add more distractions and push Penny a bit more with this. Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Penny’s second session was place. She did struggle to hold place at the start of the session, and would break as soon as she hopped on. As the session progressed Penny started staying in place longer and the trainer was able to move around and away from Penny. For her next place session it will be good to add in more distractions. Focus: Repetition C
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Drops were the focus of Penny’s final session. At first she didn’t want to get into position and she wasn’t taking treats. So the trainer really had to work with Penny to encourage her into position. It didn’t take long with a hand signal for Penny to remember what she was doing the other day. She progressed well by the end of the session, so that next session the trainer can add in more distractions. Focus: Repetition D+
