Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: For her first session Peach worked on her drop skill, this skill is great for redirecting unwanted behaviours like jumping and help with over arousal. Peach shows some understanding of the skill but within the class environment did need a treat lure to help get into position, when in position we marked “yes”, rewarded her and then released her with “ok”. At home keep working on this gradually building up her duration before adding distractions. Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Peach’s second session we worked on her “bed” skill. This will be great to help with her settling at home and outside as well as helping her settle around other dogs. Today we worked in the classroom focusing on her duration while the trainer moved around the bed and two other dogs were trained nearby. She did get a bit distracted by the other dogs initially but did begin to focus more on her trainer. Keep working on this at home, gradually increasing distractions and changing environments. When she breaks before her release word we just tell her uh uh and guide her back to the bed. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Exposure Comment: Final session Peach wasn’t super interested in treats and was struggling to focus in the class with a few other dogs around. We worked on her engagement, using some play and engagement games to help. (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1-sMBp-S-IQ&list=PL8klVpnOrS_0-jZktf0a5RBWSZ6L9jEB1&index=3&pp=iAQB ) we also worked on some nail trim conditioning and calmness around having her feet handled. Focus: Conditioning X
