Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Opal’s first session was loose lead walking in the paddock. She was interested in the sheep and alpacas but still managed to listen to the trainer and do basic obedience like sit. The trainer then moved close to the kennel yards and Opal did pull a couple of times towards other dogs and smells. The trainer quickly changed direction and Opal refocused back on the trainer. Opal did a great job Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Opal’s second session was place near the kennel yards. At first she was a little distracted by the dogs but after an increase in rewards she was soon holding place better. The trainer then started moving around Opal and again she broke a couple of times but then the trainer could see Opal really thinking about what she needed to do! Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Last up for Opal was drops. And what an improvement from yesterday. She was dropping well with a verbal and hand signal. Throughout the session the trainer worked on duration again and Opal is now starting to hold position so much better! Next time the distractions will be amped up a bit more for Opal to really start to push the skill further. Focus: Repetition C+
