Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: First up for Opal was loose lead walking. Once again Opal was not to bad at this and only pulled a little. The trainer took her up to the part of the property where the horse is. At first Opal was concerned about the horse but the trainer moved her a little further away and got Opal to sit. Then used treats to help her release the horse meant treats! It didn’t take Opal long at all to forget about the horse! Well done Opal! Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Next session was place. Once Opal remembered that she couldn’t follow the trainer off place again the trainer started to blow bubbles for Opal. Opal found these very distracting and broke place a number of times. However the trainer increased the frequency of treats and before long Opal was holding position again. Opal did really well and it certainly doesn’t take her long to figure out what she needs to do. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Obstacle Course (Confidence Building) Comment: Confidence course was the final session for Opal. She was a little hesitant at first and then just slowly walked around the course sniffing everything. The trainer then coaxed her through a little quicker and before long she was running a few laps quite quickly!!! Awesome work Opal. Focus: Repetition X
